'Wish-full' Thinking

I’m on my lunch break. I’m attending training on Internal Compliance issue today (don’t ask me why I joined..!) and surprisingly, I was not sleepy at all. The subject matter was a bit dry though, but thanks to the big GULP of strong, black coffee I had early this morning that I was still wide awake, alive and kicking right until lunch time.

Well, the creative side of my brain did a bit of thinking somewhere along the way during the 15-minutes break of the training session and I guess that’s the main reason why I was able to endure the mental torture. I’m a ‘shopaholic’ creature – like my other blogger friend used to put it. Even just thinking about the word ‘shopping’ already stimulates the pumping of adrenalin in my body, not to mention the act of doing it… hehehe. So there I was, skipping my tea break, concentrating my full thoughts on writing a complete list of the things I want and need now, with no target dates! (Don’t jump into conclusion yet, guys! These two words indicate a very significant difference in their meanings, so some of the items listed below are merely a ‘want’ rather than a ‘need’).

Here goes my 15 most wanted things, not in any sequential order whatsoever:

  1. O2 mini phone/PDA limited edition in black colour – can’t stop thinking about it since I saw it on the Internet, well, probably the word ‘limited edition’ makes me want to have it (I’m sure Nik will be saying the same thing… knowing me for more than 10 yrs now. Am I that predictable?);
  2. A nice, brand new white gold necklace with a white-gold-wrapped-around-a-nicely-cut-diamond pendant;
  3. A brand new watch – I’ve been wearing my ‘hantaran’ watch for almost 9 years now, and I thought, hey, since it never gives me any major problem, why not get a partner for it so that it will not feel lonely at night sitting alone, unaccompanied in my wardrobe (is that excuse good enough!?);
  4. A new pair of nice-black-not so high heels-pump shoes - for working, heels not more than 1.5” - since my collection is mostly ‘non-pump-shoes’ (Nik will shriek if he sees this and he will go – how many MORE shoes do you need Ma?... hehehe, men! Sometimes they don’t understand the wives);
  5. This definitely a need – a new pair of Levi’s jeans, the new edition (the word ‘edition’ again!);
  6. This is a need too! – a facial treatment at Dermalogica! They kept on declining my reservations as they are constantly FULL HOUSE every weekend, and I have been postponing ever since the last few months…. I’m not doing any justice to my face!;
  7. My Dermalogica facial set is running low…. Got to buy them SOONEST! This will affect issue no. 6 if not treated immediately!;
  8. A small, petite diamond earring. It only costs not more than RM100 (from my recent survey at Poh Kong) but somehow I can’t get myself to buy it… I normally went “OK, not that much, will buy it next time. Not a problem!”… but that ‘next time’ never happened! And I keep on thinking about it! Hmmmpphhh…..
  9. Marks & Spencer sandal… the one that I have now doesn’t look new anymore..;
  10. Marks & Spencer undergarments…. they’re running old already!;
  11. V-Kool tinted screen for my car – looks cool eh;
  12. Need to seriously plan for Umrah trip sometime next year – has been postponing since mid this year;
  13. Need to plan for Jakarta/Bandung/Balongan/etc/etc by end of this year – has been thinking about it for so long (well, at least since Nik was posted there.. hehe);
  14. Need to plan for a shopping spree in Singapore – Christmas Sales mah!;
  15. Last but not least, to top up my Vitamins supply! They’re running low! My Evening Primrose, my anti-wrinkle-anti-aging tablets, my Vitamin C & garlic supply, Vitamin E for my skin, Ginko for my memory (can’t hold data longer than 24 hrs! mid-life crisis!), BioAce for skin, Lecithin E for fat burning….. ahahahha….. kidding! Need to complete the list lah!

    OK….. What a mouthful! I’m done, and very exhausted! I’m leaving early today, need to go around visiting my neighbors, it’s Hari Raya after all.

    Have a wonderful weekend (ops, it’s only Wednesday!). *sigh*

I am busy, I'm confused!

I have been very quiet this week.. no updates, no hopping around leaving any trail of my existence, probably due to the following reasons: 1. Nasreen will be having her exam next week, so I’m busy reviewing her syllabus (and also nagging to make sure she prepares herself). Yes, instead of her reviewing her books, the responsibility – by default – is shifted to me…. Hmm, mothers nowadays. We feel the pressure more than our kids (and we panic even more while waiting for the results to come out). Hehehe. I can’t remember my mother even touched my textbooks when I was in Primary 3. No wonder we grow old faster these days…. 2. I’m having mood swings this week. One day, I feel elated, then mellow on the next day, moody on the following day. Work is adding on my desk, scope is being expanded, news is floating around and remarks are beings smacked everywhere (manage to steer clear of some and the rest sometimes just landed right on my very lap). Don’t you hate it when you are so positive that ...
Yes, I’ve been blessed with a lot of wonderful people around me….. yes friends, you! Read on…. Yesterday, around 6.15pm, I was in the middle of reviewing something when I was called for a meeting with one of big bosses here…. And I was thinking in anger, ‘Great! It’s 6.30pm and they want to have a meeting. Don’t they have families to run back home to????” So I got up from my chair and ran down to one of the meeting rooms in Level 5. I peeped through the small glass and the room was dark and empty. They were not even they yet! Heck! But when I pushed open the door, suddenly I heard people screaming and laughing and shouting, “Happy Birthday To You!!!!” and everyone was holding a candle in their hand. Gosh! My colleagues planned a Birthday Party for me. No wonder the department was empty when I left and I didn’t even notice. I was speechless! I was asked to blow the candles that they were holding and those on the cake (oh! The cake was so yummylicious!) I was so touched. Everybody was th...

It was Nik's Birthday

It was my husband’s birthday yesterday and we took the day off to ‘merewang’ while feeling young, kononnya. The theme of the celebration? Reminiscing the days when we were courting back in 1993 minus the snow.... ancient sungguh rasanya! We had our breakfast at O’Brien’s early in the morning and took a slow stroll along the shops in OU and enjoyed every minute of it (at 10am in the morning, mind you, and the shops were barely opened). Later we watched ‘Lake House’ and we were charged RM12 only for 2 tickets (the early bird tickets were so damn cheap, I almost fainted!). There were only a few couples inside and we took the opportunity to sit right at the middle (ikut suka hati), since the theater was quite empty. How was the movie? Hmm… ok la, I would say it was the right movie for the occasion… hehe. A bit slow though, biasa la, romantic piece. The ending part was quite ‘touchy’ and yes, Mr Reeves was so stunningly handsome (oh yes, nampak tua sikit la and still got the looks). ...
