Leaving On A Jet Plane...

It was a quite weekend for me last week. The kids were off to Singapore on Friday with my mom visiting my uncle there. So, me and my husband, we got to spend some quality together. We went to catch a late night movie at Sunway Pyramid – Just Like Heaven - on Friday. It was a nice movie, so funny & entertaining, so romantic – it’s just like my kinda movie! I know Nik prefers something with more actions, – like Troy-like or Bad-Boys-type of movies, but since we didn’t make any bookings, choices were limited, and he had to give in to my preference….hehehe. But I know he enjoyed it because he didn’t fall asleep… (well, he did when we were watching Chicken Little with the kids last week!)

On Saturday, we went to my niece’s birthday - Qaisara (look at the cake, nice ain’t it? I made it! Hehe..) She wants a Barbie birthday cake and I think that was the closest that I can make and she sure liked it…a lot!

And that's me & Qaisara on her 5th birthday (11/11/05)

Later we adjourned to our favorite hang out place (besides IKEA) – 1 Utama. We were going round and round the mall without any directions or agendas. We grabbed whatever we saw and we walked and walked and stopped for drinks and walked again…. until we were too tired to walk. I must say that we both share this so-peculiar habit, that is planning to go out without including 'where-abouts' in the plan. When we have nothing to do at home, we will take the car key and drive somewhere.

And he will go, “Where to?”

And I will respond, “Entah. Mana mana pun ok.”

So we just drive out of the house, out of the housing area and worry about where we want to go and what we want to do later… not until we a hit a junction where you REALLY HAVE to decide where your direction is… whether going towards NKVE or Federal Highway!!! And then things start to become complicated….hehehe, it’s like wanting to go neither here nor there…. just somewhere (and that ‘somewhere’ sometimes end up us driving back home).

On Sunday, we stayed home the whole day. Some friends and relatives came over to our house for Hari Raya and visiting hours lasted until 7pm. It was tiring but fun, we got to meet some old friends. After Maghrib, loneliness strikes back. The house seemed so empty and quite without the children. No kids running around the house, no loud cartoons on TV, no shouting and screaming…. just my cat, Crystal, meowing in her cage. We started to miss the kids already. Later, we decided that we should just enjoy the moment and went out for a short trip to Subang Parade – I think we are ‘Shopping-Mall-freaks’! We sat in Swensens and enjoyed 2 goblets of ice-cream…(what-ever-happened to my diet!?#$^*@) and we were back at home around 11pm.

Yes, the kids are back yesterday and the house is busy and noisy again. That’s our home. New toys to show to Mama, new dress and belt to show to Papa, new Barbie pencil case for school, new CD game…etc..etc (I didn’t know that my kids, too, are shopaholics!) We gave them a small amount of money and they managed to buy loads of goodies back! Poor grandma, wonder how she coped over there… taking two little persons to shop can be a major headache. Ask us, we know!

Well, next weekend I know the house is gonna be less-busy again. Nik will be traveling back to Jakarta this Thursday and I just hate counting the days. This time, he will be there for 3 weeks. As usual, we tried not to talk about the departure or any subjects related to it, for that matter. Some things are better left unspoken, I guess. We just wait for the day to come and hope that the clock ticks slower than the usual rate or the world stops spinning for a while so that we are able to spend more time before he leaves….

I am busy, I'm confused!

I have been very quiet this week.. no updates, no hopping around leaving any trail of my existence, probably due to the following reasons: 1. Nasreen will be having her exam next week, so I’m busy reviewing her syllabus (and also nagging to make sure she prepares herself). Yes, instead of her reviewing her books, the responsibility – by default – is shifted to me…. Hmm, mothers nowadays. We feel the pressure more than our kids (and we panic even more while waiting for the results to come out). Hehehe. I can’t remember my mother even touched my textbooks when I was in Primary 3. No wonder we grow old faster these days…. 2. I’m having mood swings this week. One day, I feel elated, then mellow on the next day, moody on the following day. Work is adding on my desk, scope is being expanded, news is floating around and remarks are beings smacked everywhere (manage to steer clear of some and the rest sometimes just landed right on my very lap). Don’t you hate it when you are so positive that ...
Yes, I’ve been blessed with a lot of wonderful people around me….. yes friends, you! Read on…. Yesterday, around 6.15pm, I was in the middle of reviewing something when I was called for a meeting with one of big bosses here…. And I was thinking in anger, ‘Great! It’s 6.30pm and they want to have a meeting. Don’t they have families to run back home to????” So I got up from my chair and ran down to one of the meeting rooms in Level 5. I peeped through the small glass and the room was dark and empty. They were not even they yet! Heck! But when I pushed open the door, suddenly I heard people screaming and laughing and shouting, “Happy Birthday To You!!!!” and everyone was holding a candle in their hand. Gosh! My colleagues planned a Birthday Party for me. No wonder the department was empty when I left and I didn’t even notice. I was speechless! I was asked to blow the candles that they were holding and those on the cake (oh! The cake was so yummylicious!) I was so touched. Everybody was th...

It was Nik's Birthday

It was my husband’s birthday yesterday and we took the day off to ‘merewang’ while feeling young, kononnya. The theme of the celebration? Reminiscing the days when we were courting back in 1993 minus the snow.... ancient sungguh rasanya! We had our breakfast at O’Brien’s early in the morning and took a slow stroll along the shops in OU and enjoyed every minute of it (at 10am in the morning, mind you, and the shops were barely opened). Later we watched ‘Lake House’ and we were charged RM12 only for 2 tickets (the early bird tickets were so damn cheap, I almost fainted!). There were only a few couples inside and we took the opportunity to sit right at the middle (ikut suka hati), since the theater was quite empty. How was the movie? Hmm… ok la, I would say it was the right movie for the occasion… hehe. A bit slow though, biasa la, romantic piece. The ending part was quite ‘touchy’ and yes, Mr Reeves was so stunningly handsome (oh yes, nampak tua sikit la and still got the looks). ...
