My First Time

It has been more than a week since 2008 Election Day but the topic is still hot and remains the ‘talk of the town’. One refers to it as the political tsunami….. another says that the citizens has spoken… the other feels that it’s time for a change…. and one may think that the citizens are sending a different message – a wake up call. Call it whatever, I’m not going to dwell further on the issue. An unfavorable decision by some may be a desired one by the other half and what has been decided is altogether a joint decision made by the PEOPLE. What I want to touch here is the ‘experience’. Why is it important? Well, simply because it was my first time voting as a citizen of Malaysia… ha ha ha… I did my duty as a resident of Malaysia. I registered in year 2004 – at the ancient age of 32, but for some unknown reasons, I was not able to vote. So this year, when they announced about the election, I was so very excited.
