Creme Caramel

I love creme caramel which is not that sweet.... if you buy from shops, normally it's quite sweet because of high sugar content. I would normally make the caramel myself, and the taste is just nice. If you like it sweet, just add on extra sugar, else stick to this recipe. For the caramel base, add 1 cup of castor sugar in a pan over very low heat. Stir occasionaly until the sugar melt and turned brown. Add 1/4 cup of water to the pan and stir slowly. You will get a thick brown mixture, i.e. the caramel. Quickly pour the caramel in the baking dish and let it stand for about 1/2 hr. The caramel will become hard and shiny... In a separate bowl, heat up 1 litre fresh milk with 1/2 - 3/4 cup sugar (depending on the sweetness that you desire) - over low heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and set aside. Beat 8-10 eggs with 3 tsp vanilla essence - I used 10 eggs so that the mixture is firmer when done. Beat for 6-8 minutes on medium speed. Add the warm milk to the mi

Numbers Don't Lie

Yes, numbers don’t lie. Yeap.... that's 46 on my cateye.... the max distance I've made so far... still way below my target My Cateye cycle computer clocked 46.7km on Saturday and 36.2km on Sunday. I normally run on Saturdays but somehow Nik felt like cycling and so he dragged me all the way to Kundang from Bukit Jelutong, via Guthrie E’way. Only the two of us because our troop only cycle on Sunday. Lucky for me the road from Kuang to Kundang was somehow flat… phew… that saved a lot of energy. My speed improved, although not that fast… I managed to achieved 32km/hr on flat road…. That’s the max of it… I think if I cycle a lil’ bit harder, my knees would come off… :D But I was so knackered that I can hardly cycle at my normal speed on Sunday… hahahha. We had a new member joined us, Linda. The group is getting bigger… and we dragged Linda all the way to Nasi Dage Mok Su in Kuang on her first ride… on MTB! Well done, Linda….. And we have temporary member, Nana, who cycled at the s

Glass Noodle Thai Salad

I really like Thai food... and I love this salad, especially. My SIL introduced me to this dish and I've been making this whenever I don't feel like eating heavy meals. It's such a simple dish to prepare, but the challange is finding the right soh-hoon (hmm... i don't know how to spell this but it's that clear noodle that we always use in our clear soups). You will need these: A pack of soh-hoon (or clear glass noodle). I got mine all the way from Thailand because my SIL was there for meetings and she bought a few packs from me. Alternatively, you can get the normal soh-hoon with Carreffour brand. You can also use other brand but sometimes they stick to each other once you cook them and they become sticky. If this happens, you may want to add about 1-2 tsp of olive oil. Cili padi - I used red cili padi (careful now, you don't need a lot of these. 3-4 will do or your salad will burn your tongue!) 2 garlic and 2-3 shallots (thinly sliced) 1 tbsp Sesame oil (to

It's a Red & Black Nite

Shah, Ina's husband, planned a surprise b'day bash for her 39th bday last night and we all helped him. And we (me & Sha) were very excited about it and more than willing to help him with the do.. of course, the whole of Tuesday I was bugging Sha with the excitement (bcoz I thot the clock was tick-tocking so slowwwlyyy that day!!!) The party took place @ Sha's house and our good ol friends joined us... Lanie, Linda, Kae & Fidah. Shah took a day off to decorate the house with Sha's bibik. Me & Sha were busy with the preparation. Sha prepared salad (she makes the best salad in the world!!), steamboat, drinks, grilled chicken & hotdog. I marinated lamb shoulder, baked a chocolate cake with Ina's face & prepared a choc bar as doorgift.... that made me excited the whole day! Ina didn't know about the bday bash and she thought Shah was taking her to a bday dinner... she was blindfolded by Shah and as soon as they reached Sha's house, we shouted.

It's Time To Be Healthy

I have registered myself for... ONE: Energizer Night Race in Sepa ng on 16th April 2011. It’s gonna be a 5.5km run, night time… woohooo……. It’s gonna be heavy but I’ll just try my luck and see if I can push my not-so-light body to run at night. The problem is… I usually run on Saturday morning and when you have no food in the tummy yet, it’s totally a different issue altogether… so, hmmm…. See lah how…. LOL! .......... and ..... TWO: Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2011 on 26 June 2011. Also 5km run…. Haven’t trained my body to go for 10km YET. I hope to do this before by next year, it’s gonna be a good present for my 40th birthday next year… hehehe I hope I can join the Terry Fox run this year… I missed this lat year… huhuhu Apart from that, I’ve been cycling…. And cycling…. And cycling….. the longest loop I made with my friends was 39km, Shah Alam to Paya Jaras. We plan to cycle all the way to Rawang this Sunday, Shah Alam – Rawang, about 45km. See if I have the energy to cycle that

3 Blind Teddies

These are the 3 lil’ musketeers on my bed… and I purposely put them next to me. And every night they will be the victims of teddy-abuse…… by Nik!!! They will be thrown out of the bed because they get under his pillows… or they will be his ‘alas kaki’ … or they will be his add-on pillows … or simply they will just die under his armpits!!!! Poor teddies!!!

BEST-est Roti Jala

My mom's roti jala is the best... but it's quite hard to learn from her because when she cooks, she doesn't follow any specific measurements. All will be based on her so-called 'instinct'. Thanks to Google, I tracked this recipe down and tried it for sooo many times, and it's error free....so far. LOL! Thanks to myResipi... So let's check it out peeps... Preparation for about 6-8 pax. 450gm flour, sifted + a pinch of salt 450 ml fresh milk (I used Dutch Lady Full Cream) 450 ml water 2-3 tbsp butter, melted over low heat + extra butter or vege oil (for cooking) 3 eggs, lightly beaten Mix together the wet ingredients (i.e milk, half of water, eggs and butter). Add flour to the mixture and mix thoroughly. Continue to whisk while you add on water (slowly) to the mixture ... continue adding until texture of the mixture is just right (flows smoothly down the roti jala mold). Add light yellow coloring, if required. ** note - tapis the mixture if required -
