We always though that Ramadhan is the best time for us to keep in shape and discipline ourselves…. think about the needy ones, value what you have, think about those children in Sudan/Palestine, do not waste your food, eat healthily and the list goes on.
My invalid assumption : when we eat early in the morning before the sun rises (yes, we can hardly consume anything at this hour as we are busy fighting for our eyes to be opened), will definitely helps us to stay in shape…..bbbuuuutttt, wait until it’s time to break our fast when the sun sets. We will all be geared up for the food battle, ready to crush the dinner table which holds countless types of jellies, cakes and all sorta desserts, grilled chicken (and fish too!), noodles, soups, rice, satay, kebabs, otak-otak…. You name it, it’s all on the table (talking about staying in shape!).
So last night, me and my colleagues went to break our fast at one of the restaurants in KLCC to bid farewell to Khalid (who’s leaving the company) and at the same time to celebrate Sukma’s birthday.
That's me & the rest of the gang. Well, initially we were supposed to dine at one of the hotel in PJ (we got the rates and number from Internet)….after going through the hassle of convincing our bosses to go there and after making numerous calls to several hotels around the day before (to find the most AFFORDABLE rates). Half an hour before we left the office, Mus, called the hotel to re-confirm our bookings and suddenly he threw a bombshell at me….. the rate per pax was RM86 nett (the internet quoted us RM58!). Well, thank you Mus…. You might want to consider doing this more often to me as my blood pressure and heart rates are still pretty strong, stable and tip top (despite my aging body) - midlife crisis again!
There we were, in our office, panicking…… it was 2 hours away from breaking fast time and we had no place to go. We decided to cancel our reservation in PJ as it was too expensive (RM86 x 7 pax = RM602)…. I guess that’s a hell of a figure to be justified as ‘Staff Entertainment Expenses’. Luckily, we managed to secure some seats at one restaurant in KLCC.
When the time to break our fast came….. yeah, look at that. Again, talking about staying in shape! With crispy (and very fashionable) fried fish…. look at how it stood on its own, mouth watering grilled prawn, saliva-dripping grilled squid and spicy fried chicken, ahh… not forgetting the customary dish - sambal belacan to go with binjal crackers.
And then, it was time to cut and eat the birthday cake. Soft, layered sponge cake topped generously with rich heavy whipped cream and glazed fresh strawberry…
See…. That’s my serving of sambal belacan and the cake slice…..half-eaten. Tell me…. how can I say no!?@#% Teach me…..! Hmmm… there goes my effort to shed some 2kg off my body this month! Oh, I have another ‘buka puasa’ appointment tonight…. Darn! I don’t think I’ll progress much by end of October.
Enough said….. have a good weekend guys!
