It's Ramadhan Again...

Today is the first day of Ramadhan, which means the first day of the fasting month for Muslims.

Yesterday, on my way back to office, I made a short trip to Jusco Supermarket in Mid Valley Megamall to buy some food (and I had two things on my mind all along, one type of fish and 1 tray of chicken wings)… I drove through the heavy (massive!) traffic along Jalan Bangsar (because I came from Jalan Semantan, headed towards Jalan Mahameru and exited at Jalan Bangsar) and I looked at my watch, it showed 6.15pm – damn! Right at the peak of rush hour…. What was I thinking??? My car was literally crawling and I think I was 2 seconds away from going nuts. I stopped by KL Sentral to pick up my husband and off we went to Megamall.

Well, parking was easy… of course not everyone was as insane as me. Who wants to drive to this area during rush hour?? Me, of course! Remember I told you that I had only two things on my mind? I ended up buying twenty… still number 2, but with a 0 (20).. hah! Talking about shopping list, how we need to control our spending, always buy what you planned to buy, bla bla bla… they don’t and never apply to me, ever! So, I grabbed 2 trays of chicken (wings and drumsticks), giant sized prawns, fish, all types of veggie that I could lay my hands on, green peas, minced mutton and my husband got a box of Honey Oats cereal for himself. Well, had to make this trip worth the journey.

So this morning I got up at 4am, went down, fried the chicken and fish, made some sweet & sour sauce for the fish, cooked the veggie, went up to wake up the husband & daughter, came down again, ate diligently (need to make sure I filled up my tummy sufficiently or I’ll be like a rotten vegetable all day), drank, cite the ‘doa’, washed the dishes and went up again. My daughter who is turning 8 this December was eating with her eyes half closed (poor thing! But need to train her early). It was already 5.15am when I jumped into my bed again for a short nap while waiting for my alarm to go off again at 6am.

That will be the ritual for the next 29 days of my life before Aidil Fitri comes around… yeay!!!!! Soon, I’ll be busy baking cookies and cakes for my customers (hmm… money, money, money……) Yes, I will snap some shots of the cookies and cakes to showcase here.

Till then, Selamat Berpuasa to all and may we be blessed with all the good things during this holy month of Ramadhan.

Signing off……….

I am busy, I'm confused!

I have been very quiet this week.. no updates, no hopping around leaving any trail of my existence, probably due to the following reasons: 1. Nasreen will be having her exam next week, so I’m busy reviewing her syllabus (and also nagging to make sure she prepares herself). Yes, instead of her reviewing her books, the responsibility – by default – is shifted to me…. Hmm, mothers nowadays. We feel the pressure more than our kids (and we panic even more while waiting for the results to come out). Hehehe. I can’t remember my mother even touched my textbooks when I was in Primary 3. No wonder we grow old faster these days…. 2. I’m having mood swings this week. One day, I feel elated, then mellow on the next day, moody on the following day. Work is adding on my desk, scope is being expanded, news is floating around and remarks are beings smacked everywhere (manage to steer clear of some and the rest sometimes just landed right on my very lap). Don’t you hate it when you are so positive that ...
Yes, I’ve been blessed with a lot of wonderful people around me….. yes friends, you! Read on…. Yesterday, around 6.15pm, I was in the middle of reviewing something when I was called for a meeting with one of big bosses here…. And I was thinking in anger, ‘Great! It’s 6.30pm and they want to have a meeting. Don’t they have families to run back home to????” So I got up from my chair and ran down to one of the meeting rooms in Level 5. I peeped through the small glass and the room was dark and empty. They were not even they yet! Heck! But when I pushed open the door, suddenly I heard people screaming and laughing and shouting, “Happy Birthday To You!!!!” and everyone was holding a candle in their hand. Gosh! My colleagues planned a Birthday Party for me. No wonder the department was empty when I left and I didn’t even notice. I was speechless! I was asked to blow the candles that they were holding and those on the cake (oh! The cake was so yummylicious!) I was so touched. Everybody was th...

It was Nik's Birthday

It was my husband’s birthday yesterday and we took the day off to ‘merewang’ while feeling young, kononnya. The theme of the celebration? Reminiscing the days when we were courting back in 1993 minus the snow.... ancient sungguh rasanya! We had our breakfast at O’Brien’s early in the morning and took a slow stroll along the shops in OU and enjoyed every minute of it (at 10am in the morning, mind you, and the shops were barely opened). Later we watched ‘Lake House’ and we were charged RM12 only for 2 tickets (the early bird tickets were so damn cheap, I almost fainted!). There were only a few couples inside and we took the opportunity to sit right at the middle (ikut suka hati), since the theater was quite empty. How was the movie? Hmm… ok la, I would say it was the right movie for the occasion… hehe. A bit slow though, biasa la, romantic piece. The ending part was quite ‘touchy’ and yes, Mr Reeves was so stunningly handsome (oh yes, nampak tua sikit la and still got the looks). ...
