What a Weekend...

We made a trip back to Singapore on Friday …. A few reasons actually.

1. Nik’s nephew, Dr Fathy from KB, wanted to shop for his hantaran stuff

2. At the same time, it was his first time riding long distance and we planned this a few months back when he wasn’t able to join our trip to Tanjung Piai, Johor

3. I wanted to visit my cousins and uncle there

4. We wanted to go somewhere as it was a long weekend

Initially I was supposed to ride with them, but changed my mind at the very last minute… so I drove, solo…. With my Mr T while the bikers escorted me…. A few reasons also..

1. I was not in the mood to sit at the back of the bike for a long 3-hours

2. I wanted to take the kids too .. it’s Syawal anyway, so time to ‘raya’

3. How on earth are we going to bring the stuff that Fathy wanted to buy if we were to ride there?

Well, they were supposed to escort me but I left them on our way there… LOL! I was going at 170… and damn the car was good I didn’t feel the speed. Reached Tuas Checkpoint 1 hr earlier… hahahha… The moment they reached the meeting point, Nik was asking me… ‘how fast did you go?????’

Anyway… what I wanted to write in this entry is…..

On our way back, I had to stop by Seremban to drop Nasreen off, so the bikers went ahead of me. Next meeting point was Dengkil. After Seremban, it was raining so heavily and I was going at 40km/hr. Visibility was poor and I struggled to keep my eyes on the road… at the same time worried about Nik and Fathy.

When I was about to reach Nilai junction, Nik called from Dengkil, saying that they were soaking wet already and so I asked them not to wait for me and to meet at home. I passed Dengkil some 15 minutes after that and I was a few kms away from Putra Heights exit when suddenly the traffic was moving very slowly. Suddenly I saw police car about 2-3kms ahead and an ambulance was pushing its way thru the massive jam, perhaps trying to reach the accident scene..

My hands went cold. I picked up my phone and I called Nik and Fathy. None of them picked up the phone. I panicked… restless… so many things came to my mind.. so many questions.. I checked my phone… no missed calls. I texted Nik to immediately call me .. and I kept calling his number… my mind was everywhere. Slowly my car almost reached the accident scene… about 1km away… but traffic was not moving. I made at least 10 calls to Nik’s number.. I was sweating in the car… I felt the world had stopped spinning, when suddenly the phone rang.

It was Nik… he said he was already home and there was a very bad accident right at the PH junction and 2 ladies were lying on the road, hurting badly. Their car was a total wrecked!

Boy… I was soooo glad when I heard his voice. I would’ve run to him if he was standing right in front of me. I tried to sound calm but God knew how relieved I was at that point of time. The world suddenly started to spin again and things were back to normal… and THAT WAS THE LONGEST 20 MINUTES OF MY LIFE… Thank God that all of us arrived at our destination safely…. Alhamdulillah.

So guys out there, you know how wives sometimes can go nuts worrying about your safety and your whereabouts?  Just pick up the phone and give them a call to say you're ok or you have arrived....  Wives, if you must know, are from different species, they worry about EVERY SINGLE THING....

To Be or Not To Be

Deadlines were over…. Yesterday was my last day here…. And today marks a whole new beginning of my career life here….. I could be wrong or I could be right for making this decision… but I’ve made up my mind to take up the challenges, nonetheless. I know I’m subjecting myself to a lot of hardwork as well as criticism, scrutiny and observation from the rest……. and time definitely has to be compromised. But being a risk taker…. I am, I know I just have to pull myself together and face the obstacles - one at a time. It’s too late to undo things anyway and the best thing to do is to be positive. Both legs are in and it’s time to march towards the horizon with pride and dignity. Only time can answer the doubts that I have in me now… meanwhile, I need all the luck that I can have.

It was Nik's Birthday

It was my husband’s birthday yesterday and we took the day off to ‘merewang’ while feeling young, kononnya. The theme of the celebration? Reminiscing the days when we were courting back in 1993 minus the snow.... ancient sungguh rasanya! We had our breakfast at O’Brien’s early in the morning and took a slow stroll along the shops in OU and enjoyed every minute of it (at 10am in the morning, mind you, and the shops were barely opened). Later we watched ‘Lake House’ and we were charged RM12 only for 2 tickets (the early bird tickets were so damn cheap, I almost fainted!). There were only a few couples inside and we took the opportunity to sit right at the middle (ikut suka hati), since the theater was quite empty. How was the movie? Hmm… ok la, I would say it was the right movie for the occasion… hehe. A bit slow though, biasa la, romantic piece. The ending part was quite ‘touchy’ and yes, Mr Reeves was so stunningly handsome (oh yes, nampak tua sikit la and still got the looks).

Antara Anyir & Jakarta

I’ve been making regular monthly trips to KLIA since my husband was posted to Jakarta last year. And yesterday….. again, I made my ‘latest trip’ there to send him off (after the recent trip that I had on 3/3/06 when I picked him up from KLIA to spend his 10 solid-days holiday with me and the kids here in KL). Time sure flew fast when you wished for the earth to stop and let you enjoy your 10 days just a little bit longer. Nevertheless, the ‘most awaited 10-days’ was over…..Nik is now back in Jakarta and I’m now back in my office, sitting in my chair, swiveling around every 10 minutes, gazing lazily at the workload dumped on my desk and trying very hard to find every energy stored in my body just to touch those piles of paper…. argh! But the 10-days period was spent joyfully. We took the weekend off last week for a quickie getaway at Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa…. and oh boy! the resort is spectacular and the view is breathtakingly-beautiful. Of course, the children were the happies
