Steam Sea-bass & Chicken Soup

Last night was my m.a.l.a.s night.

So I decided only to cook simple dishes....

Steam Sea-bass

Garlic & shallots (4 each) - sliced
Ginger (abt 2 inches) - sliced
Lemon grass (1) - pound
Kaffir lime leaf (2-3pcs)
Chili (4-5) - pound (I used bird's eye chili a.k.a. cili padi)
2-3 lime (limau kasturi) - squeeze the juice out
a pinch of sugar and salt, to taste
1 cup of water

Put everything in a deep wok and cover.  Let it simmer slowly and once the water starts to boil, add in the fish (I used 3 small seabass).

Cover the wok again and let the fish cook in the sauce for about 5-8 minutes, depending on the size of your fish.

Serve while hot.  Tastes like steam fish because you don't really use oil, just let everything boils in the wok.  (actually I was really lazy to take out the steamer..... hahahhahah).

Then I cooked another dish....

Simple Chicken Soup

Pound 2-3 garlic & shallots, and fry with 1 tbsp of olive oil.
Add in 2 tsp dry soup powder (I used Adabi) and continue to fry (I didnt mix the powder with water because I was lazy.... again....)
Fry for 1-2 minutes, add in 'soup bunjut', diced carrots, cut potatoes, and chicken.
Add 1 cup of water and let it boil.
Add more cups of water if required.
Add chinese celery & spring onion
Add a pinch of salt, to taste and you can add ground black pepper, if you like it a bit spicy.

There you go, all prepared in less than an hour :)

Enjoy the recipes peeps.

A Walk to Remember!?

Finally, I’m writing…. The trip to Singapore was fun…. And also, full of crazy moments.. heheh… Clockwise : The Q @ immigration, street performers @ Orchard, moi infront of Far East Plaza, Nik chilling out @ Starbucks Suntec CT & my precious new sandal... I like!! We left KL after Subuh & managed to reach Johor around 10am. The trip was a short one so we decided to leave the kids behind. It was a smooth ride on a cool & very breezy morning with just enough sun all the way (yes, made me sleepy also!). I took some cool pictures along the way and later discovered that I accidently deleted all of the scenery pics from my camera.... *sigh* Sometimes I can be more than the word 'clumsy' could describe... Anyway, we wanted to enter Singapore via TUAS, then I remembered that we didn’t even have a single cent of S$, so we drove down to JB town and looked for money changer. Then I thought…. no harm of taking the Causeway since it was a Sunday and I was so damn sure that traf...

Antara Anyir & Jakarta

I’ve been making regular monthly trips to KLIA since my husband was posted to Jakarta last year. And yesterday….. again, I made my ‘latest trip’ there to send him off (after the recent trip that I had on 3/3/06 when I picked him up from KLIA to spend his 10 solid-days holiday with me and the kids here in KL). Time sure flew fast when you wished for the earth to stop and let you enjoy your 10 days just a little bit longer. Nevertheless, the ‘most awaited 10-days’ was over…..Nik is now back in Jakarta and I’m now back in my office, sitting in my chair, swiveling around every 10 minutes, gazing lazily at the workload dumped on my desk and trying very hard to find every energy stored in my body just to touch those piles of paper…. argh! But the 10-days period was spent joyfully. We took the weekend off last week for a quickie getaway at Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa…. and oh boy! the resort is spectacular and the view is breathtakingly-beautiful. Of course, the children were the happies...
