13 going 30

1st December 2010… it was Nasreen’s 13th birthday. Happy birthday Mama’s lil girl…. Although I know she will delete that ‘lil’ title if she reads this .. hehehe

I ordered a box of chocolates and 2 cute, little soft toys to be delivered to her yesterday… I shall spare you the story of me getting that NOEL Hampers to deliver the package to her at home.

My last words to the customer service were …. “this is my first time and it’s going to be my last time ordering from you”… I normally used ESKA but yesterday I was so ‘cerdik’ and changed to NOEL for no apparent reasons.. and see lah what I got. After so much hassle, the box was finally delivered around 9.00pm… and I was already home…. BIG sigh!

Anyway, we had a very small celebration at home. .

Bought a box of Wondermilk cupcakes – I SUPERlike the shop btw…. I wish I own a cafe exactly like that ONE day. I wanted to eat cupcakes, hence I didn’t bake myself because I don’t really eat my own cake and I was pretty sure the kids had enough of my cakes already. I dropped by the shop on my way back from office. Grabbed a box and headed straight home. Nik was stuck in a meeting, and I kept calling him to come back early.

I made meatloaf for dinner and we waited for Nik to come home while my meatloaf was in the oven.

Just a simple celebration and Nasreen was surprised to receive her gift from us….. yes, Mama went around all over One Utama to hunt for this thing and kaki Mama (and also Aunty Maz’s and Aunty Balkish’s) were so lenguh and we all ended up having A&W for lunch (after a BIG breakfast that morning)… aiyohh I thought we all should be on diet???

To Nasreen… you turned 13 yesterday…. And sometimes I feel like you are still 3 hee hee… anyway, there’s a looong way for you to go and this is just the beginning of your wonderful life. Enjoy every bit of it and always know that Mama & Papa love you.

Hmmm… I know that meatloaf makes you drool right…. So let’s see how it was made….

½ - 1 kg minced meat (top side, if possible)

1 cup breadcrumb

1 cup fresh milk

1 egg

Salt, to taste

Ground black pepper, 1-2 tsp, depending on personal preference

1 tsp mustard (powder form)

1 tsp garlic powder

Finely chopped parsley (optional)

1-2 tbsp BBQ or tomato sauce

Mix all ingredients until well blended and pour into a baking dish.

Pour ¼ cup of BBQ or tomato on top on the mixture and bake for 45mins – 1hr. For the last 10mins of baking time, use only the top grill to bake and put on high (approx. 170 – 180 degrees) to ensure the sauce dries up.

A Walk to Remember!?

Finally, I’m writing…. The trip to Singapore was fun…. And also, full of crazy moments.. heheh… Clockwise : The Q @ immigration, street performers @ Orchard, moi infront of Far East Plaza, Nik chilling out @ Starbucks Suntec CT & my precious new sandal... I like!! We left KL after Subuh & managed to reach Johor around 10am. The trip was a short one so we decided to leave the kids behind. It was a smooth ride on a cool & very breezy morning with just enough sun all the way (yes, made me sleepy also!). I took some cool pictures along the way and later discovered that I accidently deleted all of the scenery pics from my camera.... *sigh* Sometimes I can be more than the word 'clumsy' could describe... Anyway, we wanted to enter Singapore via TUAS, then I remembered that we didn’t even have a single cent of S$, so we drove down to JB town and looked for money changer. Then I thought…. no harm of taking the Causeway since it was a Sunday and I was so damn sure that traf...

Antara Anyir & Jakarta

I’ve been making regular monthly trips to KLIA since my husband was posted to Jakarta last year. And yesterday….. again, I made my ‘latest trip’ there to send him off (after the recent trip that I had on 3/3/06 when I picked him up from KLIA to spend his 10 solid-days holiday with me and the kids here in KL). Time sure flew fast when you wished for the earth to stop and let you enjoy your 10 days just a little bit longer. Nevertheless, the ‘most awaited 10-days’ was over…..Nik is now back in Jakarta and I’m now back in my office, sitting in my chair, swiveling around every 10 minutes, gazing lazily at the workload dumped on my desk and trying very hard to find every energy stored in my body just to touch those piles of paper…. argh! But the 10-days period was spent joyfully. We took the weekend off last week for a quickie getaway at Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa…. and oh boy! the resort is spectacular and the view is breathtakingly-beautiful. Of course, the children were the happies...
