The Bundt Pan Story

Day - Thursday

Time - Almost midnite

Me (while crawling under my duvet cover) : I want my bavaria bundt pans! … (and making my 2 inches long pouting mouth)… they don’t ship to Malaysia… (still grumbling and sulking)

Nik : Kat mana lagi dia jual?

Me : Singapore……

a few minutes after that…… zzzzzzzzzzz……….

Day - Friday

Time - Just before lunch

Me texting Nik……

Me : Jom ride to Singapore!

In a split second… he replied

Nik : when?

Me : amboiii… laju nye reply kalau nak ride….. hehehe

Nik : Tengah review report lah…..

Me : I want to buy my bundt pans…..

The ‘texting activity’ continued for another few more minutes…. and a few hours subsequent to that conversation, I had already booked a hotel room, managed to get hold of the address of ToTT store and planned the journey...... yeap! We were going to Singapore to nail that bundt pans!

5am, Saturday, we were already on the bike heading to Singapore. The weather was great… it was a very cooling morning and the ride was good. We reached Singapore around 9am after making 2 stops for gas and went straight to my uncle’s house. Had lunch there and after that, we were out on way out to the streets of Singapore….

Jalan Besar, Lavender Street – they were Nik’s territory… then it was my turn… Paragon & ToTT Store… !!!

My jaw dropped as we stepped into ToTT Store @ Dunearn Street. See it for yourself…..

Even the entrance to the shop made me go nuts!

You see.... chopping board in all colors, sizes and shapes... That's it!

I'm getting that yellow board the next time I go there!

Beaters as big as me....!!! For ogre perhaps!

Look! Look! Look! Sea of bundt pans and baking pans.... I almost fainted in this section!

yes..... losing my breathe there.....!

But still they ran out of my Bavaria Bundt Pan!!! Darn!!!! I came all the way for you!!! No luck I guess

Well, after spending more than 1 hour inside the store (that my pocket almost ‘koyak’!)… we left with 3 BIG bags. yes, we took a cab there…. and when we reached my uncle’s home…

I thought.. “….oh!! we didn’t drive, we only had our bike… and these pans….how on earth....@!#$%%^&^

So we left most of the stuff at my uncle's house and we planned to go again in March to collect them.. and we will be driving, yes!

But I couldn’t go back empty handed, now could I…. so I hijacked 1 bundt pan and shoved it into Nik’s tank bag… woot! woot!

So nice eh....?

hahahha …. the rest I had to leave them behind… oh! my poor pans!

We left Singapore around 9pm and reached Johore 1 hour after that, the same day. We checked into Thistle and that night I slept like a baby…. I was the happiest person on earth! heehehehe

We left Johor the next morning around 6am…. (with a pan in the bag)!

I guess that was the shortest trip we’ve ever made to Singapore… and yet the most satisfying one!

A Walk to Remember!?

Finally, I’m writing…. The trip to Singapore was fun…. And also, full of crazy moments.. heheh… Clockwise : The Q @ immigration, street performers @ Orchard, moi infront of Far East Plaza, Nik chilling out @ Starbucks Suntec CT & my precious new sandal... I like!! We left KL after Subuh & managed to reach Johor around 10am. The trip was a short one so we decided to leave the kids behind. It was a smooth ride on a cool & very breezy morning with just enough sun all the way (yes, made me sleepy also!). I took some cool pictures along the way and later discovered that I accidently deleted all of the scenery pics from my camera.... *sigh* Sometimes I can be more than the word 'clumsy' could describe... Anyway, we wanted to enter Singapore via TUAS, then I remembered that we didn’t even have a single cent of S$, so we drove down to JB town and looked for money changer. Then I thought…. no harm of taking the Causeway since it was a Sunday and I was so damn sure that traf...

Antara Anyir & Jakarta

I’ve been making regular monthly trips to KLIA since my husband was posted to Jakarta last year. And yesterday….. again, I made my ‘latest trip’ there to send him off (after the recent trip that I had on 3/3/06 when I picked him up from KLIA to spend his 10 solid-days holiday with me and the kids here in KL). Time sure flew fast when you wished for the earth to stop and let you enjoy your 10 days just a little bit longer. Nevertheless, the ‘most awaited 10-days’ was over…..Nik is now back in Jakarta and I’m now back in my office, sitting in my chair, swiveling around every 10 minutes, gazing lazily at the workload dumped on my desk and trying very hard to find every energy stored in my body just to touch those piles of paper…. argh! But the 10-days period was spent joyfully. We took the weekend off last week for a quickie getaway at Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa…. and oh boy! the resort is spectacular and the view is breathtakingly-beautiful. Of course, the children were the happies...
