My First Time

It has been more than a week since 2008 Election Day but the topic is still hot and remains the ‘talk of the town’. One refers to it as the political tsunami….. another says that the citizens has spoken… the other feels that it’s time for a change…. and one may think that the citizens are sending a different message – a wake up call.

Call it whatever, I’m not going to dwell further on the issue. An unfavorable decision by some may be a desired one by the other half and what has been decided is altogether a joint decision made by the PEOPLE.

What I want to touch here is the ‘experience’. Why is it important? Well, simply because it was my first time voting as a citizen of Malaysia… ha ha ha… I did my duty as a resident of Malaysia. I registered in year 2004 – at the ancient age of 32, but for some unknown reasons, I was not able to vote. So this year, when they announced about the election, I was so very excited. I checked my name on the SPR website and yes!!!!! It was there – though I had a vague idea of my political preference this year!

Anyway, I was one of the early birds to arrive at Sek. Keb. Sect 6, Shah Alam. They run through the list to look for my name…. and, there…. on the list, I saw Leilanie’s name. hahaha…. just a few lines above mine (hey Leilanie, did you actually go and vote this year?). The excitement was all over me once again. Reason? Hmmm…… Dunno! I just thought that one would feel that way upon seeing one’s friend’s name on the list during a big event like this one… that’s all. I do think it;’s normal. Anyway, waiting in line, my hands were as cold as ice, and I’m not joking. Not that I was scared, but went through the experience for the first time in my life…. it was like walking down the aisle up to your ‘pelamin’ during your wedding day.

In short, I was excited over nothing. I didn’t take any pictures, though, because I was alone (and my husband decided not to carry out his duty this year). Come to think of it, I should’ve asked the policemen to snap my pics lah….

Hi Zura,

I remembered the time I registered my name ..... I was told I cannot vote that year.... and had to wait for the one in 2004. Which I did.... excitedly, early in the morning, at SK Sect6. Yup... for each step we took towards the election box.... it was like walking towards the dais.

This year..... I merajuk dengan PM and his SIL. haa haa..... So, decided to do laundry and spring cleaning at home.

If only we were both there that morning.... you and I will be jumping up and down, posing around, snapping for each other.....

A Walk to Remember!?

Finally, I’m writing…. The trip to Singapore was fun…. And also, full of crazy moments.. heheh… Clockwise : The Q @ immigration, street performers @ Orchard, moi infront of Far East Plaza, Nik chilling out @ Starbucks Suntec CT & my precious new sandal... I like!! We left KL after Subuh & managed to reach Johor around 10am. The trip was a short one so we decided to leave the kids behind. It was a smooth ride on a cool & very breezy morning with just enough sun all the way (yes, made me sleepy also!). I took some cool pictures along the way and later discovered that I accidently deleted all of the scenery pics from my camera.... *sigh* Sometimes I can be more than the word 'clumsy' could describe... Anyway, we wanted to enter Singapore via TUAS, then I remembered that we didn’t even have a single cent of S$, so we drove down to JB town and looked for money changer. Then I thought…. no harm of taking the Causeway since it was a Sunday and I was so damn sure that traf...

Antara Anyir & Jakarta

I’ve been making regular monthly trips to KLIA since my husband was posted to Jakarta last year. And yesterday….. again, I made my ‘latest trip’ there to send him off (after the recent trip that I had on 3/3/06 when I picked him up from KLIA to spend his 10 solid-days holiday with me and the kids here in KL). Time sure flew fast when you wished for the earth to stop and let you enjoy your 10 days just a little bit longer. Nevertheless, the ‘most awaited 10-days’ was over…..Nik is now back in Jakarta and I’m now back in my office, sitting in my chair, swiveling around every 10 minutes, gazing lazily at the workload dumped on my desk and trying very hard to find every energy stored in my body just to touch those piles of paper…. argh! But the 10-days period was spent joyfully. We took the weekend off last week for a quickie getaway at Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa…. and oh boy! the resort is spectacular and the view is breathtakingly-beautiful. Of course, the children were the happies...
